Damage Types

Different attacks, damaging spells, and other harmful effects deal different types of damage. Damage types have no rules of their own, but other rules, such as damage resistance, rely on the types.

The damage types follow, with examples to help a GM assign a damage type to a new effect.

Acid

The corrosive effects of certain chemicals & venoms.

Bludgeoning

Blunt force attacks.

Cold

Freezing temperatures, snow & ice.

Fire

Heat, fire & flames.

Force

Force is pure magical energy focused into a damaging form.

Lightning

Electrical discharges.

Necrotic

Life-draining or negative energy magic that withers matter.

Piercing

Puncturing and impaling attacks, such as bites, spikes, daggers & spears.

Poison

Venomous stings, poisoned food & drink and toxic gases.

Psychic

Mental damage.

Radiant

Light-based or positive energy.

Slashing

Swords, axes, and monsters’ claws.

Thunder

Concussive or acoustic force.
