GAME NOTES

We head west and soon come to a pair of umber hulks smashing furniture. A short fight ensues. In the chamber beyond we find a pair of portals:

Continuing on, we are surprised to find Halaster walking down a hallway. When we call out, he promptly turns into a grey slaad and attacks us.

Moving north we find a room full of hundreds of decrepit weapons and a looted tomb.

Our king is with the Gods. Here lie his bones.

Jitters is able to ascertain that the looted tomb was staged, and that clues Gimbal in to find a secret door that leads to a second sarcophagus in the chamber beyond.

Gimbal determines the second sarcophagus is trapped, and would activate magical guardians that line the room's walls, but he finds a second secret door which we access. Beyond the second secret door is a plain hall that ends in doors and a plain hall beyond. Arin falls into a pit trap.

After a rescue Gimbal finds a third secret door that leads into a great vaulted chamber with the statues of four Dwarven gods and rich tapestry. Ceol looks behind the tapestry and finds a small, unadorned room. Just then he hears an imploring voice in his head:

if you let me out, I can tell the secrets
you must free me, I am stuck
I am encased in Marthammor

When questioned, the voice names itself Vandaxian and is very vague about how it came to be trapped in a statue in a tomb as well as what secrets and rewards it might be able to provide. Ceol manages to get info about the Map_the_Portals#PORTAL 7-8 out of it, and promises to return and free Vandaxian if research proves him not evil.

Beyond an illusory wall we find the proper tomb of King Mellair. In his dusty sarcophagus we find a mighty war pick and shield. Then we move on.

Headed north again, we quickly encounter a Map_the_Portals#PORTAL 7-???, but we know not where it goes or exactly how to activate it. Soon after we find another: Map_the_Portals#PORTAL 2-7 that we recognize from Nadia's Blood-Eye outpost on the 2nd Level.

In the extreme northwest of the map, we encounter a pair of Xorn that chase us, but they are slow and we escape. At the very last we come to a pair of doors guarded by two Helmed Horrors, we defeat them to find another room with Dwarven god statuary that has a mysterious mouthpiece to a brass instrument.
