We move back to the copper room and find another journal entry

Day 03 - I no longer trust the other apprentices. What they see as mysticism I know to be science! I can't stand their incantations and their mutterings any longer. If any of them try to intrude on my laboratory again, they're in for a truly shocking surprise!"

Ceol enters the copper room wearing that boots, and things seem fine. Unable to find any switches to turn off the power, he returns to the party. We craft a plan to knock the legs off the lab tables and use them as islands to cross the electrified floor.

The prayer stone is of Dumathoin covered in goblin prints. As he cleans them off, Dumathoin grants Ceol the ability to see secret doors. We proceed east, down a hall and into a crevice passageway. The passageway ends in a room with a Gibbering Mouther and then two more. They take a fair amount of spell damage before going down.

We proceed west through a maze of passageways, and find an 8 foot high wall made of bone. We press on west until we find 3 rooms. The south is a disused bathroom, north is a bathroom with human poo.

Further west, we enter a room with 5 cyclopean monsters in it. Gimbal gets injured before he can get to safety but a combination of flaming oil, spells and a little spear work sends these monstrosities to whatever hell spawned them.

Their room contained no treasure, but its western door is magically locked. Gimbal uses his Knock ability to bypass the door and we find another Arcane Locked door to the west. The room has a table with a map made of loose stones, and a mural depicting a Darkmantle descending on an unsuspecting gnome who is admiring a gem.

The map does seem accurate to what we have experienced. We tentatively id the southeast area as the steps down to 3rd Level .

A drow wizard appears and wants to have a convo with Gimbal (who is still mute). Mira gets his name; Rizzeryl. He really wants to speak to Gimbal about Lady_Yafeera. He is Zhentarim. Eventually we work out that in exchange for guiding us to level three, he wants us to take care of Xanathar Thieves Guild northeast and southeast of here. Each outpost has bugbears and goblins plus a captain.

Rizzeryl has wererat minions led by Zilitsa

We agree to rest in this area to rebuild our strength and then go take on the Xanathar outposts.

DM Details on Rizzeryl

Eight wererats in human form sleep on dirty cots in the southern room. The wererats are short, unkempt humans of mixed age with thin limbs, beady eyes, and nervous tics. They clad themselves in filthy, smelly, ill-fitting clothes. You perceive their leader to be a crass, middle-aged woman named Zilitsa. She is mean-spirited but has a good rapport with Rizzeryl. The others are a degenerate bunch of inbred, light-fearing weirdos who've spent too many years living underground. The men are named Frek, Henk, and Kozrik, and the women are Arreth, Elabbor, Kreena, and Sybilee.

A wooden chest is against the south wall which they keenly watch. Rizzeryl pretends to study his books in his chair but you can see he is watching you closely. He sends the wererats out for errands three at a time. He mostly communicates to Zilitsa.
