GAME NOTES

In the hall of statues, we debate whether to rest in 1st Level or go back to the Yawning Portal Inn, but ultimately Gimbal grabs the bull by the horns and opens the double doors. There is a flash of light, and a vision of Halaster Blackcloak strikes Gimbal dumb while also granting him the ability to cast Knock and Freedom of Movement at will for 24 hours.

The big room beyond smells like monster shit, and Gimbal goes down vomiting. Ceol rushes over to help, and we back off to reassess. Mira enters the room alone and triggers an encounter with 3 Manticores.

Manticore Fight
Jitters casts Blind on one and frightens it with his ghost followed by Ceol and Gimbal peppering it with spears and arrows. Arin & Mira cast Call Lightning & Poison Spray before it retaliates by clawing Mira

#1 dies on Ceol's spear while Manticores #2 & #3 throw spikes but begin catching spears javelins, flaming arrows, lightning bolts, ice knives and magic missiles. Call Lighting from Arin finishes off the final Manticore

Sifting through the shitpiles, Ceol finds a fine silver spear with a gold lightning bolt sigil. Mira finds a wooden flute with silver chasing and a shitty coin purse.

We decide to rest in the barracks of the Undertakers but run into a bugbear & goblin patrol on the way and quickly retreat back to the Wyvern room. Ceol bars the door with a spear, while Arin makes thunder rumbles and Jitters sends threats directly into their minds. The combo scares them off, and they head back to get advice and reinforcements.

We take a LONG REST in the Undertakers poker room, then go back to the manticore room and the NE door; Gimbal hears heavy footsteps. Switching up, the South door is silent so Gimbal opens it and sees an old basilisk corpse clutching a transparent orb. Jitters retrieves it with Mage Hand and the monsters are dispatched by Ceol.

We find a room full of petrified basilisk victims and some statues, Ceol manages to get chased by a black pudding which the party makes short work of. Behind the monster's hideout, we find a copper crown with garnets.

Back in the manticore room we hear heavy footsteps again, this time at the SE door. We sneak in, find a troll up to the NE and leave him alone with his trollish thoughts.

We head south from the SE door down a long hall to a room full of huge tables covered in dripping rotted meat. Beyond is a hall & stairs to 2nd Level .

We LEVEL UP to 6th Level and learn (by deducing which Halaster Blackcloak clue was a lie) that:
